From the television show PA HarnessWeek (www.harnessweek.com) -- a look inside the rigorous testing procedures at the cutting-edge Pennsylvania Equine Toxicology & Research Laboratory in West Chester, PA that ensure a level playing field for all competitors.

Includes a tour of the facility, an overview of the lab's operations plus an interview with Dr. Cornelius Uboh, the lab's director since 1987. In 2006, the Pennsylvania Equine Toxicology & Research Laboratory became the first in the world to develop a method for the confirmation of blood doping agents [recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) and darbepoetin-alfa, (DPO)] in equine athletes by LC-MS/MS.

  • o well so much for banamine

  • I think the good Doctor needs some more help with his work. These test results are not received for up to two weeks after the race. DNA testing doesn't even take this long anymore!

  • More of this has to be done to help save the sport.
