"Dead Island," words by J. Hebblethwaite, was composed in 1957. This ambitious song tells of the poet's visit to the former prison at Port Arthur, on an Island off the coast of Tasmania. The convicts, who had been transported from England, were treated scandalously; they are buried many to a grave. This is one of Ron's more ambitious songs. Thanks for listening.
