You can always replace the system (Nav + Heater controls) with an aftermarket unit... metra dash kit #99-7864, and aftermarket radio, and you never have to worry about dealing with alpine every year that their radio fails.

@elaverdure I sent you a LONG LONG LONG personal message about this problem and what I did to fix it. Everyone who wants it fixed is biting the bullet and paying to have it fixed or replaced. Yea its not cheap and I didnt want to pay for it. I just bought one off of ebay for $400 because the one Alpine fixed broke again. The one I just bought has a two year warranty. That is your 3rd option. Alpine wanted another $325 out of me. I dont know how jliang14 got it for $150.

These units are a pain in the arse ! I have one and when the dvd drive fails to read you cannot even turn your music of or off or set your climate control to what you require.

@jdeepkumar well if u have tinted windows you can thank your tinted window installer. water flos down into unit where it corrodes your solder joints.

I am having the same issue with my Honda Accord 2005. First, navigation system voice direction sounded like cracked speakers and constant reboot. I took it to my dealer, he said the problem is with the DVD player in the trunk. Which need to be repaired or replaced.
Thanks for the info about Alpine, will check that!
Got the same issue with my 2003 model. I bought it in July 07 and it went bad by December that year. It has been like that since and does the very same thing that yours does. Mine has come to the point where it's just a blank (black) screen with not even the HONDA NAVIGATION sign anymore.
I, too, have checked in with the dealer and it's a $4k replacement ticket.
I've called Alpine and it's $150 to repair. Frankly, I'm not interested in any of the above. Any 3rd options is appreciated-- THANKS

@elaverdure When I sent it in to Alpine, they said there were about 3 or 4 parts that needed to be replaced. I think $150 is a fair price for parts and labor, considering the alternative. I have not found any 3rd option. Take care!
