Nikos Spanos-MotoAdventures
Tsekourwnontas to mprostino.

The guy on the video is a moto instructor. What he does is using only the front break (with ABS) on a BMW R1200GS to stop the bike on dirt surface.
The second time he uses at first the rear break and then simultineaously the front break (with ABS too) showing that it takes a lot more distance to stop the bike.

  • Elias, I'm planning to get 1200gs soon. Mind telling me what you were saying about the abs in this video? Thanks!

  • Hi deptom

It's all written in the video description, on the right side next to the video (you have to click the "more..." text to see the full description.

Hope this helps and have fun with your new bike!

  • Thanks Elias! Didnt see that. What year is this gs? I'm getting a 2004 model.

  • nice, very nice bro.

  • The guy on the bike, is Socrates, the great Greek philosopher, and he's saying: "What I know is that I can't drive this shit!". Yeeep...

  • The follow is a quote from another site. This is what Nikos Spanos is demonstrating.

"The guy on the video is a moto instructor. What he does is using only the front break (with ABS) on a BMW R1200GS to stop the bike on dirt surface. stop the bike."

  • Well, according to my Greek he says DO NOT SWITCH OFF ABS when touring in dirt roads, it'll save your ass and prevent front wheel locking situations. Underline the word "touring" here, cause as you suspect riding faster requires you to put ABS to sleep or your next stop would be at the closest hospital since embrassing a tree at motorcycle speeds tends to give a free pass to medical facilities....

  • As the GSA has link brakes then it is pointless showing the difference between using the front then the second run using back first? I hope he went on to say switch the ABS off when off road....

  • It's Greek and he is making the point that if you keep the ABS on in the dirt "you will never stop"....so best switch it off then as advised in the manual?

  • lol dunno about the idiom, greek? russian?
