The parks, collectively known as the Ouseburn Parks, are Heaton Park, Armstrong Park, Jesmond Vale, Jesmond Dene and Paddy Freeman's Park and are located in the east end of the city only about 2.5 miles from the bustling city centre. Lord Armstrong, who presented much of the area to the city in the late 19th century, described it as an oasis in an urban setting! Truly they are!! You can walk the length of them without crossing a main road. So I invite you to join me as we do just that on a pleasant summer day in July 2008. Enjoy the scenery!!
