This song is as important(vital) as life itself! The greatest treasures that you will ever discover and own (possess) are friends who help you endure through the good times and bad times and love you for who you are in the inside and never let you go (remain by your side) no matter what happens!!!!

Beautiful song by Sir Elton John.

Back in the '70's I had asked my mom and dad for an Elton John album for Christmas. Being the frugal man he was (and still is), my dad grabbed an E.J. album from the 'discount bin'. That album was 'Friends'. When I first opened it, I was disappointed because I had never heard of it. It immediately became my favorite, and this song is one that I love. Thanks for the rush of memories :)

@sherrylynn70 You have both made a grown woman cry!!!! We certainly should all be friends in love and peace and harmopny and you now have a friend in me...my name is Carolyne and I was about 12 when this movie came out...I m under "Mirosuni" the names of my two beautiful nieces. Thank you so much for both of the beautiful posts set to a beautiful song and soundtrack!!!!

@sjplwc You are right, however I have been blessed to have a best friend for almost 50 years. We grew up next door to each other, at 18 he moved to Texas his dad's job moved him. The older we get the closer we get. There home movies of us all though the years. Little did we know we would help each other though the deaths of our fathers, divorce's, family problems.. I do not know what I would do without Jeff. His mom and dad were second parents to me as mine were to him. We have a TRUE FRIENDSHIP

The name of the film was "Friends", same as the song. I think this song is ALOT better than the film was, lol.

This is actually one of the very few songs of Elton's that does bring a tear to my eye, it is beautiful.
I have never considered Bernie to be a good lyricist, but he creates some real poetry here.

Beautiful song..wish I had 1% of their talent!...the next song at the end, finishes early, so I went searching..it's Come down in time' from Tumbleweed Connection.
Sting does a great version too on the tribute album..Two Rooms..
Thanks for posting..brought back lots of memories..
