Qantas have announced that they will be immediately grounding the entire A380 fleet, after QF32 (LHR-SIN-SYD) returned safely to Changi Airport with engine number 2 severely damaged.

"We will suspend all A380 takeoffs until we are fully confident we have sufficient information about QF32," said Alan Joyce -- CEO.

The aircraft in question was the airlines first A380 (VH-OQA -- MSN014), which recently had a C-check performed in Frankfurt.

Qantas have also stated that their order for an additional twelve A380s remains unchanged.

Update #1: Singapore Airlines are delaying all A380 flights, following a recommendation from Rolls Royce.

Update #2: Singapore Airlines has cleared all A380s to return to regular service.

  • @captainpilot27 Have you actually BOTHERED to follow this incident? The ATSB found a defect in part of the Trent 900 engine, from memory, 16 Qantas engines have to be replayced as well as 6 or so Singapore ones, it was a design fault! It happens with newish planes!

moreover the plane had recently undergone maintenence at Rolls-Royce. I'm sick of uninformed people blameing Qantas just because it's an Australian airline—if it had happened to Singapore we wouldn't be having this conversation.

  • @AndrossKenobi Hey bro i kept this video from a website

can you tell this things to them pls.......!!

I don't wanna blame qantas nor AU

  • A380 wings and RR engines are British-made, by the way .

  • A380 also got cracks issue on wing span so too soon. And what's next?!

[ I personally feel much safer on good old 747 with 50 yrs of jumbo jet best safety record in aviation history.]

  • really bad airline to fly with.

  • Boeing is the best and has the best track record, Airbus sucks & QANTAS ROCKS!!!

  • The first thing I would think in this situation is death and Allah.. all praises to Allah for making their flight safe to be able to go back to Singapore. Was it flying with 3 engines?

  • Should have gone for GE90 engines

  • The aircraft is flying safely. Yeah right, seeing parts of the wing all around....

  • Ka---------boommmmmmmmmmm.

  • @usernameofutube oh, ok!
