Two brothers give me a lesson in "coon calling", which is a way to hunt raccoon without using dogs. If you've ever been interested in hunting raccoons, there's a lot of information in here that will be useful. In Ohio you'll need a fur -bearers license. We weren't successful, but that doesn't mean the night was without its share of surprises. This video is one from the archives - January 2006 to be exact.
can u use that coon pups call all year long or just at a certain time?

@MoosicandCritters I have an Alaskan Shepard that kills Coons. I would think coyotes will kill the small ones too. Big ones can be fierce fighters. Bloodied my dog up pretty good.

I live in a quiet mobile home park in rural southern Ohio. We have had alot of coons who come to visit every night. They love to eat leftover bird seed off the ground. (we have to bring our bird feeders inside every night, otherwise the little brats destroy them). 2 nights ago there were alot of coyotes raising heck just behind the park. None of us have seen a coon since. Is it possible the coyotes got the coons? We've seen alot of very young coons lately too.
