I'm sorry to say that Sen. Collins is making premature commentary. The current bill is headed for a long, agonizing, and I hope EDUCATIONAL process that will take weeks or maybe months to produce results. These comments only serve to increase the smoke and heat of the discussion without lending any substance at all. I ask that everyone step back, get smart on the basic issues by doing some research, then join the discussion in a civil manner.
Good for you Senator Collins. Don't back down on your values. Simply put, if the problem is healthcare cost, then that needs to be addressed. Since the current proposal doesn't do this, we should scrap it and pursue legislation that does reduce cost. Namely, abolishing the laws that allow states to restrict interstate commerce of insurance so that there would be much more competition in the healthcare arena. More competition equals lower prices and better quality.
there not going to do anything to pass any kind of reform of the health insurance industry. They don't want to loose all that money. So, one bill after another will be introduced in the Senate and the public will get so discussed over the whole deal, public opinion will turn against doing anything at all right now. Mark my words.
Senator Collins is not even close to being on the same track that the majority of US citizens are on. Stating that the Public Option is a non starter is exactly what the health insurance companies want to hear. By closing her mind to this possibility, she proves to me that she just doesn't care about the millions of uninsured US citizens that can't afford insurance. I'm sure the Fox News crowd agrees with her position. I, along with a large majority, of Maine voters do not.
I think Senator Susan Collins is on the right track when the goovernment option is left out, but as she said more needs to be done to bring down health care costs. Which the mainstream media ignores. As she said we need to go slow and and move with caution. We need tort reform . We need more competition to bring down insurance premiums. We need to eliminate insurance borders,to allow insurance companies to go to other states to sell there policies. There is much more that can be done.
