What is The Atheist Experience?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

  • Religious people should stop labeling themselves as "open-minded". THEY are the ones who explain everything they don't understand with God, instead of doing research. THEY are the ones who stick to the beliefs they've been taught since they were little children (with the argument "believe in this or you will go to hell"), denying all the other religious beliefs in the world and the possibility of a completely natural world without an invisible, almighty man in the sky.

  • @hannah29816 That's no proof. You think it is because it's been etched into your brain for decades. But then what about all the other religions? Are they all wrong? All the 'nature gods' of all the different tribes in the world, Egyptian gods, Greek gods, Roman gods, Allah, Yahweh... And YOURS is the true one? Everyone else goes to hell? Or are they all the same god and he just set up different rules for different people? Why?

OR... is religion just something humans need - psychologically?

  • I don't care how arrogant someone is. If they're right, I'll agree with them.

  • @guitarsly111 Rush - 2112

  • what is the song at the beginning?

  • @hannah29816 christians are keen on circular reasoning and using the dibs-fallacy.

The dibs-fallacy is basically when religious people claim that they where first with an explanation and therefor anyone after have to disprove it. Sorry, but that is just not so.

When you provide evidence for a god, then the rationality can begin - until then you are just being irrational.

  • An open mind is required to acquire true beliefs, but if you don't put ideas through the filter of skepticism and rational inquiry, you'll let in an awful lot of bullshit.

  • You can't violate the law of conservation of energy. Energy is never created or destroyed, only transferred.

  • @hannah29816 If you ever have watched this show before, or even if you have common sense, you know that trying to prove somethings validity with itself is a logical fallacy. You can't use the bible to prove the bible, because that's circular reasoning.

  • @ofosusam As far as I know, quantum phyics doesn't violate conservation of energy in an isolated system... So yes, matter can spontaneously appear - but not 'out of nothing'.

  • @eggroll9000 No, we explain that everything came from God, and our proof is from the church and the bible.
