How to remove the stock BMW stereo from an e30, e32, e34, e36 (3 series, 5 series, 7 series). There is actually a special tool that is similar to a torx or phillips bit that has 5 sides. You can use a phillips bit, but be very careful not to let it slip.

Models: 316, 318, 320, 325, 328, 525, 530, 535, 540, 730, 735, 740, 750

  • What type of cable to use for aftermarket radio installation with that weird chunky plug???

  • @wyteliz1 I purchase mine at a local car audio dealer. I just gave them the year, make, and model of the vehicle and they gave me the right plug for it.

  • Ok, what is the "Other Small Plug" that you refer to? I'm looking for the microphone wire for the stock cellphone that is in many E34s. Is this that?

  • @rodonkwaj That could possible be the wire for the car phone. Mine does have the stock BMW car phone and I know that the system does somehow work with the stereo speakers also.

  • perfect vid. only one up online of that radio style.

    thanks

  • @zthreescotty The bracket actually still stays on the harness plug. I wasn't able to hold the camera and unplug it at the same time, sorry about that. It's actually a little harder to pop up and you have to wiggle it back at the same time as you pull it up on that clip.

  • Once you pop up the bracket around the wire harness, how you actually get the bracket off so you can unplug the harness? You edited out that whole part.

  • I have a special 5 sided allen key left over from my BMW days, if anyone in UK would like it completely free send me a message :)

  • You can actually just use a small Allen key it take it out. I just removed mine today with one that came with a computer repair kit.
