For five days in May, one of the largest malls in Malaysia has opened their main concourse to Kechara. During this time, Kechara have been exhibiting our community service initiatives in Sunway Pyramid. These range from Kechara Animal Sanctuary which rescues abandoned, abused and neglected animals, to Kechara Soup Kitchen which feeds the homeless with hope and food, to the Kechara Earth Project, which promotes recycling.
Sunway Pyramid is very unique because it is modelled after Egyptian architecture. It is located next to one of the busiest roads in the state of Selangor, and next to a few colleges and high-density housing areas so it is very popular with students and young families. Every weekend, thousands of people come to this mall to go shopping, to go ice-skating, have a meal or just to relax.
When it comes to the Dharma, His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche isn't just about learning and reciting and memorising. Rinpoche is very firm about putting Dharma into action, and practising Dharma in our lives. This is why he has opened 13 departments -- not only do they help Kecharians to help others, but they are also methods for people to enter into our organisation, to join us in our work of helping others find happiness and freedom from suffering.
The roadshow promotes Rinpoche's beliefs in a very strong way, by making it very accessible for other people to come and join Kechara in our work of benefiting others. Many volunteers have come together to help set up and talk to people, and meet them and make this event a success. There have been performances here by different Buddhist groups and also by Kechara members, as well as different activities like art classes and competitions, and the opportunity to make candle offerings and buy food for sale.
It is very kind of Sunway Pyramid to allow Kechara to be on the main concourse of their hugely popular mall promoting Buddhism...so thank you Sunway Pyramid!
