As a chronic alcohol abuser, my drinking caused major problems. After a third DUI, I entered a treatment program in an effort to lighten my sentence and learn to quit drinking.
The 28 day program was an indoctrination to a 12 step religion that reflects Christianity's values and repentance oriented philosophy. I have no problem with that so long as we keep it all real.
My problem was and remains the "disease" label that removes personal responsibility for behavioral excess. It's absurd.
