This is so cool, thank you! I used to miss working on my car engine when I was a cager. This video is step by step awesome. It makes me happy to do my own work on my new primary mode of transport.

i'm trying to fix my cable wire on my mongose bike i got in 2007 i learned somthing from you thanks

when i try to change from 6 to other gears, it doesnt go upper, the shifter drags the cable and the cable drags the derailleur but it only drags vertically, it doesnt drag to the otehr gear, idk why. When i move the derailleur to the first gear by my hand, it moves and it changed to 2,3,4,5 and 6, but i cant go back to the 5,4,3,2,1, because the derailleur only moves vertically, but not to the other gear.
Oh and btw when i tighten the cable a bit more, the gear changes but only to the 1 one :/

Thanks for telling us WHY you need to match the ends, WHY you even need to replace housing.

Is it the same process for the front derailleur ?

okey, assuming im installing a new shifter (shimano saint), do i need to shift the levers(to highest or lowest) before putting the cable through?
good vid btw, cheers
I don't know if you have a vid for it but I would like to know how to replace the shifter itself... but i suppose its the same as replacing the shifter cable except that you remove the actual shifter instead and then replace the cable...?
