actually, i play tuba and i have played a rotary for years, BBb, and when i finallly picked up a valved tuba last week, i was capable of putting more air in the instrument easily, so yes, rotary requires more air.

Not to seem ignorant nor American, which I am the latter, but what is the valve style on those trumpets? I have seen them used by European musicians specificaly, and unfortunately here in America, music stores dont carry this valve style. Can anyone help me out as to what this style is called?

Rotary valves. Here in the US you pretty much only see them on french horns and tubas

This trumpets with rotary valves are models custom made by Thein instruments (German) you can see in his web site, rgds, excuse me par my bad english, bye.
