http://www.mythicalireland.com I am unsure of the year, but this is probably 1994 and this is my one and only video of a 001 (A class) locomotive. These wonderful engines had nearly all been scrapped by the time I got my first video camera. This footage was taken on a borrowed camcorder from North Strand, Drogheda. The tape has begun to deteriorate a little so now's a good time to digitise this footage and get it onto YouTube. This is rare footage. There are only two other videos on YouTube I can find that have the 001 A Class in them.

  • Thanks for rescuing the film and uploading. The sound of the engine is every bit as evocative as the sight of 001. I lived beside the Sligo line for a number of years and they were noisy beasts.

  • very nice! good times when the bubbles were still around...

  • My father drove a cement tanker and used to hook up to that train in adelaide yard in belfast. That was around 1979. Nice to see that video.
