No, actually if you isolate them it will give you a weaker reception and at best have a very minimal reception loss. In the video I mention for best results to shave off any not conducting coating of the hangers or the metal you wish to use( In the hopes of minamizing the loss of picture and sound quality ).

Can you use copper wire insted of hanger?

If you're not getting worthy results out of this build... Try not cleaning the connection hangars where they cross each other. If anything, you could add insulation here.

Built one today, was getting 75% on a digital convertor box. Now, it's 30%.

And don't get me wrong, that's better than the 15% I was getting, but I miss my 75%.

You really should invest in some better side cutters, lol.... Get a good pair of Klein or something, it sucks using cheap ones you have to be superman or rotate the wire like you did. ;)
