Dr. Lawrence Casalino, MD, PhD, Chief of Division of Outcomes & Effectiveness Research at Weill Cornell Medical College, explains what an Accountable Care organization is, and its importance.

ACOs are being created across the nation in response to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or healthcare reform act, which was passed into law this year.

Mission Health System welcomed Dr. Casalino, M.D., Ph.D., to Asheville's Crowne Plaza Exposition Center on November 12 to share his research on accountable care organizations (ACOs), which are expected to be a cornerstone of healthcare reform.
