I always liked shemp and it is totally unfair to try to compare him to Curly. He actually had his own career going when Curly had his stroke and could not work anymore. Shemp agreed to become a stooge to help the family out. At this point all three were related...brothers. TRIVIA: Shemp Howard (Shmule Horowitz) was once voted "the most ugly man in Hollywood

I nearly fell off my chair laughing when Shemp started flipping around all over the place. And Christine McIntyre was always a terrific extra in the Three Stooges shorts.

I maintain that the first four or so years with Shemp were the best of the entire run of the Stooges shorts with Columbia. He was a perfect fit for the act at that time in their careers.  It was only when the studio started cutting costs and doing remakes that things went awry.

I love the way that lady was looking at Shemp act a fool. I bet in a blooper reel, she probably was laughing until tears came out. I know I was. lol
