Wait. They completely restored Temple and Crusade like that too, I guess?

No, TEMPLE and CRUSADE did not get the digital restoration that RAIDERS did, but then again they really didn't need it. RAIDERS showed a lot more age in its original negative and required restoration (plus a new audio mix) to take full advantage of HD and Blu-ray quality at home. TEMPLE and CRUSADE are newer films, were shot on improved film stock in their productions and were probably cared for better as film preservation standards improved greatly in their era. They do look great on Blu-ray.

The interviews shown in this trailer appear to be from the 2003 box set, not "all new" special features as this clip hypes (unless these won't be in the final product).

I have the full write-up on my site, but in short: this Blu-ray includes BOTH archival making-of featurettes and previously released DVD bonus features PLUS all-new materials made for this Blu-ray release. It's not one or the other, it's both.

Can I buy it without the 4th Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?

Nope. At least not now. As noted before: Amazon is selling the 4-film set at 25% off, so consider it getting the fourth film for free - costs you nothing. Check out my site for Amazon pre-order link if you're interested.

"Every Indy fan knows" - that is where you lost me. I'm an Indy fan, I know many Indy fans, and I was at the Marathon in Sept. and at the Nat Geo Indy exhibit this November - Indy fans find stuff to enjoy about all the films, and Kingdom got good reviews from critics and audiences. It gets internet flack at times but so does Temple of Doom, of which I could equally make a flat assumption that "every Indy fan knows Temple pales to the others" - but I don't make those claims. Please don't either.

You made a good point, but really was the whole "Don't take a genius to figure out" part necessary? I was being humorous since every Indy fan knows that the 4th film was nothing to brag about and doesn't compare to the trilogy. Don't take my comment so seriously, I'm a hardcore Indiana Jones fan myself and notice I'm not being condescending in response to your comment.

The 4th film was already out on Blu-Ray...so it makes sense to push the remastered older films more since they're restored and out on Blu-Ray for the very first time. That's why they showed less footage of the 4th. Doesn't really take a genius to figure that out.

I love how even the marketing people who made this commercial knew to exclude as much from the 4th film as possible haha

Yeah okay, makes sense. I was more thinking of those movies that have had well preserved negatives, but the restoration or transfer was quite shite.
