Interview with the main representative of Peugeot's Electric Car division.

Zero fuel consumption, zero CO2 emissions and zero engine noise: with the Citroën C-Zero, PSA Peugeot Citroën is broadening its compact vehicle offering with a 100% electric solution. The new city car is designed to make urban mobility easier thanks to its compact dimensions, rapid charge and generous range for day-to-day journeys. And all this in a silence that makes occupants forget about the noise of the city. The C Zero combines technology and creativity to meet tomorrows challenges today.

Set for launch in last-quarter 2010, C-Zero, developed like the Peugeot Ion with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, is Citroëns second electric vehicle alongside Berlingo First Electric, developed with Venturi.

The motor is powered by latest-generation lithium-ion batteries mounted in the centre of the vehicle. Lithium-ion technology keeps battery weight down compared with conventional technology, while offering equivalent performance. It is also resistant to partial recharges, which have no impact on battery longevity.

Measuring 3.48 long and boasting a tight 9-m turning circle, the C Zero is perfect for nipping in and out of city traffic. And with a top speed of 130 kph and acceleration from 0 to 100 kph in 15 seconds and 60 to 90 kph in six seconds, together with a range of roughly 130 km, it is also fully at ease out on the open road. In France, 70% of everyday car journeys made in the week are under 30 km, for an overall average of 40 km.

  • Gasoline is done with. Peugeot along with other automobile manufacturers are beginning to produce electric cars.

  • @sauphi Peugeot have sold electric cars in the 90's, long before any other maker even considered the idea.

  • Leader??... very funny they need to use Mitsubishi's technology to make their electric Peugeot and Citroën......that's a Mitsubishi i Miev..isn't it?

The same as their 4X4 which is a rebadged Outlander

  • Who said it was, maybe a reading course as well?

  • Funny I have worked for a UK Company and matter fact I was at IBC a few months ago in Amsterdam. I can tell your universities are no where the challenge of American ones.

My experience has been someone from a EU university is like 2 years of school in the USA.

My son is a freshman, his first class the very first day was calculus 2 that he just got a A in.

I was an engineer at Motorola for over 20 years.

  • Oh the good olds days like 25 years ago when we had one gov screw up after another, remember Kennedy, Kennedy bros, King, Cuba, Vietnam, Iran hostages, cold war, Iran contra, Watergate, 21% interest rates, 17% inflation, gas shortages, civil rights, Israel attacked, OPEC, Arafats weekly terrorism, on and on and on.

Good news today things are much better.

PS the USA feeds the world including China.

The only thing that has ever really hurt America are these socialist programs.

  • Funny it has been so mush worse and we did just fine. When I was a kid is was a big deal for my mom to give me and my sisters just 25 cents for the candy store, we were all poor. We lived fine and today things are amazing but true there are problems like always but people are the answer not governemt like always in USA.

  • Wow an industry was against the government for subsiding a technology that does not work, go figure.

But we know with you it is always someone elses big conspiracy, lol

I have read a lot about electric car technology and have seen that silly biased movie, fact is the electric car was not ready back then and it is not ready today, go figure.

Oil companies want to make money, that is the only thing that matters is can the technology make money and is it efficient?

  • A belief in man made global warming is just that a belief in models that missed the cooling trend in just the last 10 years.

That is the IPCC's proof. Models that claim CO2 has an amplyifying effect over time. All while being incomplete and ignoring negative loopbacks that drive temp down.

  • Again what part of the science convinces you man made global warming is real?

We know from the ice cores natural drastic temp change is the norm, from 3 degrees C in as little as 200 years has happened many times.

Funny I have read the IPCCs 4th report, you? I understand their argument, you? It is clear you have no clue of even their argument.
