Is that locomotive dcc equipped? I'm about to start my layout and my grandpa gave me that loco I need to know so i can wire it. Kind of new to train layouts.

No my stuff still runs on conventional DC. The locomotive could be wired for DCC but I don't remember excatly how as I am not too fimiliar with DCC.

how do you get the system to know that the switch ids thrown and to give it a stop

A relay is wired to throw when the turnout thows. The contacts of the realy are fed into the circuitry thereby telling the system the setting of the turnout.

The searchlights are custom made, the tri-lights are from Model Power, they don't make a double or triple head signal so I took the ones I had and combined them together.
