Layout Signal System Introduction

This is the first documentation of my HO Signal System. Please excuse my blabber, it is ment to inform about the system but I am not one to be enthuseastic.

This is the signal system on my layout as of May 2008. This system is automatic and requires no direct input from the operating panel itself. Because it is automatic, this allows more attention to train control while giving the effect of real signal operation. This system works off of DC control and takes advantage of the conventional, reverse polarity direction control. Please see the proceeding videos for a description on each interlocking finishing off with some intermediate signal operations.

Is that locomotive dcc equipped? I'm about to start my layout and my grandpa gave me that loco I need to know so i can wire it. Kind of new to train layouts.

No my stuff still runs on conventional DC. The locomotive could be wired for DCC but I don't remember excatly how as I am not too fimiliar with DCC.

how do you get the system to know that the switch ids thrown and to give it a stop

A relay is wired to throw when the turnout thows. The contacts of the realy are fed into the circuitry thereby telling the system the setting of the turnout.

The searchlights are custom made, the tri-lights are from Model Power, they don't make a double or triple head signal so I took the ones I had and combined them together.

I still have a lot to learn about signaling, but you do it with complete confidence.
