@Proton1 It matters not a whit which foot is forward, you're missing the point, its about ambush. Present a target, teki attacks target, you cut
-
@swordsman5 Why would you alert the enemy? I can understand the logic for the first half, but soon as he was in striking distance, you would cut him down surely.

It is possible to perform the kata with either foot forward, the fact that within the formal set only one particular method is used doesn't mean that using the opposite foot is wrong. Most Kata can be done with alternate footwork, and for someone who wants to be fully adaptable in any situation then the practice of alternates is a must. Without that it is like being a Karateka that can only kick or punch with their right side, a skilled opponent will spot that weakness.

@Proton1 Ah yes, you are correct. Right foot should be forward. Good catch.

You neglected to notice he set the wrong foot forward as he lowered the sword toward the ground. I know of no MJER ryuha that offers this interpretation, however slight.

Very beautifully done! Your speed, power, precision, and technique look excellent.
What does lowering the blade to the ground do in this technique?

The Riai behind this is that you are stepping off of a path, at night, after seeing an intruder, you are hidden in shadow, drawing the blade over in a slow arc to avoid moonlight glinting on the blade, tapping the ground ahead of the intruder gets him to cut towards the sound, you can then dispatch him as he makes his cut.
