In evolution intelligence has broadly increased in step with brain-size. For humans there has been a doubling in brain size in a relatively short period. The video considers how and why this may have come about. In terms of EVO-DEVO, evolutionary developmental biology, language has, through the Baldwin effect coupled with the shaping of the brain in development by cell-death to match the environment, operated to increase the selective advantage of individuals with larger brains.
