@adsqfer In fact they have a tactical purpose, the idea is that - because being so wide - they can hide the feet. The position or tension in feet before an attack can be a give away. But yes, they are less practical.

@howierulez Those are hakama. They are worn by many budo practioners and some other arts such as aikido.
