She is missing the dead father of her child. She is looking for him and he is shown as the angel of death who has crossed over to see her. She and his friends can't see him. He spends some time with them but has to go back which is why he appears to die at the end. It's sad because she can't see him or be with him. He can see her but can't talk to her. This is my take on the video.

Dolores wearing platform heels shows its era! The chain smoking old codger with the angel wings, desperately trying -and failing to escape from the trap he's in..

The song is about missing her partner when on tour (she had married a year before) but also the relationship she had when she ran away from home, which turned abusive so she had to escape from it). It's complex and highly personal like a lot of Dolores stuff!. But it's real - and the pain is real which is why it's so brilliant.

I did the same thing with a Johnny Cash CD, I've since re-bought the CD! Now I make a point never to sell CDs. I still have my Good Charlotte CD I bought when I was a Kid and Kerrang told me to... who knows, maybe in 20 years I'l glance over it, blow of the dust, pop into my (then) retro CD player, and then try and sell it!

I'd forgot this song even existed. I gave away my cranberries cds maybe 7 years ago after having not listened to them in about 5 and I forgot this song until tonight i was looking up cranberries songs as some sort of nostalgia thing and it's dumb that i'd even forgot about it because i always thought this was their catchiest along with Dreams. As soon as it started it brought back flood of memories.
