Afro Colombian Mural in Washington DC - interview with artst Joel Bergner

Inauguration of the Afro Colombian Mural last Saturday September 12, 2009 in Washington, DC. Located at the 1300 block of historical U Street NW, this mural has been painted by DC based artist Joel Bergner, who dedicated this mural to the culture and the hopes of the Afro Colombian displaced people living in the DC area.

More than 4.5 million Colombians have been displaced in the last few years -mostly Afro Colombians and Indigenous peoples- by the government of Colombia, and as a result of the internal violence of that country. Colombia is the biggest recipient of military aid from the U.S. after Israel.
