I could (and have) listened to this band all day. Off of their monumental album "The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion"

  • @NWOfight3rs TX 4 THE FYI

  • This song sums it all up as far as "love" goes. Love is a transitory, momentary baggage emotion we all drag along with us on our journey through life. Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys sang about this same thing but not so clear as The Incredible String Band.

  • Sounds like a 12-string guitar, tuned to open G. It's very close to the sound of the album track but is clearly a different session. The album track has a bowed instrument (double bass?) playing the bassline.

  • @reevedavey TELL HER !! she probably loves you too!! be brave!! even if she doesn't, you're still in the same place you are now - but with more integrity!! love!!

  • Robin Williamson playing a solo version of this exquisite lovesong from the album "5000 spirits". My first love was a redhead called Morag, I used to play this song all the time.

  • In the early 70s there was a club in Amsterdam called, "Folk Fairport" - it used to attract some very fine folk musicians. On a visit to Amsterdam in the late summer of '71, I met the first girl I loved; a German girl who had long, red hair. I later visited her in Germany, but our lives were going in different directions at the time. Still, I settled in the old BRD and in '76 revisited "Folk Fairport". To my astonishment, a visiting singer-guitarist played this song that night. 'Tis all true...

  • This is not the version from the original album, but still wonderful, this is from the Chelsea Sessions.

  • Such a unique song musically and lyrically. And who can strum the guitar like Robin?

  • i,ve lived a most beautiful woman in every sense for fifteen years and counting and she doesnt and never will know.the pain is like no other.

  • came out when "the first girl i loved" was in my arms;pam.we never thought it would end "but we were just young didnt have no place to go".breathtaking then as now and al little painful to know those days are gone forever
