Kerala is known for its backwater houseboats and Tree Houses. Vythiri offered us the option of staying in a Tree House situated at a height of 65ft, surrounded by dense forest at one end & tea estate on the other. Apart from bringing one closer to the nature, it also offers you the desired privacy and proves an ideal stress buster. It comes with basic facilities without any TV or phone connections. The only activity that you can have in here is to sit down in the gallery and just listen to the mesmerizing sound of the rhythmic rain drops, chirping birds, and of course some insect sound that you may never heard before. There is no one around to disturb your deep indulgence with the nature. You wouldn't want Nature to offer you anything beyond this. The experience was so pure and so very touching. This is one of the few places, where we would love to go time and again, especially in monsoons.

The Tree House is said to be created out of locally available, eco-friendly, bio-degradable materials by the tribal people. The electricity is supplied from the Solar Panels situated just above the Tree House. There are in all 3 tree houses in this resort. Couple of them can be accessed by wooden steps (situated at a height of 40ft) and the other by an indigenous crane lift (situated at a height of 65ft) that works by a unique counter weight of water. The interiors are charming and provide some lovely views of the misty tea gardens. We stayed in the one that can be accessed by the indigenous crane lift. An important feature to be noted here is that you are completely dependent on the resort staff members to move in or out of this Tree house. In a way, you are handicapped, but that offers you some real adventure. The resort also provides separate dedicated jeeps to reach these Tree Houses situated about a km inside the forest.
