You're right! Arkansas!! They need to get their facts straight. He was great jazzman, but the blues is the foundation of it all. Without it jazz would not be what it is.

The voiceover has plenty of problems: he was from Arkansas, not Alabama; he was much more a jazzman than a "bluesman"; he "came to prominence" about three years into his own bandleading, not back when he was one of the guys in Webb's big band; the Tympany Five played using the swing rhythms that were normal at the time; he had little personally to do with the evolution of the mid-'40s jump blues sound (which he was still using in the early '50s) into the rock and roll sound....

I had no trouble, but I've got high speed. I'd never heard of this artist. I sure recognized that LP though, LOL. My mom gave me quite a few as keep sakes of the old days..I've got Louis Armstrong, Doris Day, Sinatra, and many,many more on LP! I finally had to buy a new record player that plays LPs and CD's. I like trumpets, R&B, and other styles of music as well...guess I've got the music in me..........Thanks for sharing this......

Maybe your connection is slow. Mine is, so I usually pause and wait until that wee red line has gone left to right entirely, then you can watch without the interruptions.

Am I the only one having trouble with this clip? It stops every few seconds. It has taken me over 15 minutes to get through 2min35 seconds of this video.
