Good point, but let me clarify...
Di Meola is a better guitar player than Santana. Santana is more popular because he focuses on inflection and emotion. Ironically, Santana is a lot more humble than Di Meola, which goes back to my original point.

I've heard mixed thigns about Al. Most lean toward him being arrogant, not nice. I have met at least one other musician who has (claimed to have) played with him and says he's very nice. Whatever. He comes off very, very arrogant. He can plays his ass of, though.

Too bad about the standard youtube comment pollution here. As usual, multiple unsubstantiated claims about Al Di, all by way of vague weirdo hearsay. Note that people who *actually* have met him all claim he's a nice guy. The arrogance claim has always been silly and not grounded in evidence. I've met him; nice guy. And bringing up Santana is perfectly irrelevant. Cowards and childish speculators will abound. It is youtube, after all.
