Most of us have been told at one time or another to never lose hope. This plea is particularly common when dealing with medical problems. But new University of Michigan Health System research indicates that there may be a dark side to hope when dealing with disease or chronic medical conditions.

  • You got a point here but it opposes the acceptable saying.

  • I've been saying this for years. I have tinnitus and the constant promises of a cure just frustrates me to no end. People keep saying "don't give up hope" and it irritates me. Now, I feel I can finally give up hope and live out my remaining days with what little pleasure I can eke out of living with this constant noise in my ears.
