I just finished watching series 4 and it ends with Mulder apparently committing suicide, but he's back in series 5, does he fake his own death or is there another explanation?

Great intro it brought many memories back , i was hardcore fan of x-files when i was 5-6 years old. remember myself watching it late at night in a dark room while lying in a bed , it was scary to watch , lol my old tv was without remote controller i was afraid to get off the bed and turn it off when show was over , or i got realy scared when passing car lightened my room window and i thought that aliens came for me.
