  • What a difference a bit of water and some time make! Fruit and vanilla creaminess coe through and suddenly you find you need a refil! Good stuff indeed, so now I better get a Port Charlotte - which one though Ralfy?? Cheers.

  • @funicats

the 10yo which will arrive in a few months !

  • The Laddie company makes Octomore, (I have Octomore 2/140) and that's great and all... but does Bruichladdich make a peated whisky on the level (and price?) as Ardbeg 10? Peated somewhere between 45-55 ppm? They're a progressive company with lots of expressions, but it seems they got unpeated, lightly peated, and then SMOKY BARBECUE SWAMP CHAOS! haha.

  • @Gregrg7

    look up Port Charlotte !

  • Hay Ralfy, I just ran across a bottle of Bruichladdich 12 year old 2nd edition for a reasonable price, wondered if you had tried that one and if it was comparable to the 10-year-old?

  • @AaronBenjBrown

    similar but different.

  • Thx for an excellent review, this one is particularly helpful as I bought a bottle based on your endorsement. On first sampling I was a bit disappointed, I really didn't get much fruitiness/sweetness or anything I can really put my finger/nose on. It improved though when I came back to it. It's almost as if a 'typical' Islay peated malt was distilled and then all the smoke taken out, leaving only the faintest hint of peat & smoke. Definitely not for beginners this one so I'll be back to it soon.

  • $52 in New York City at Astor Wines & Spirits!

  • @Auslanderish I'd like to see a double-blind study on that. And spirits don't have souls, we live in a material world.

  • @MrPeterFinland You know he´s right. I find Bruichies to be some of the best whisky´s out there. Great nose, great taste and it beats many of my more expensive whisky´s. Trust me the hands on making of Bruichladdich´s comes through when your drinking it.

  • I absolutely love the colour of that label! I want to paint my GSXR that colour!

  • how much for the bottle
