The third episode of Cinematography Tips for Video Lighting. Hosted by Tony Reale.

Today I talk about the importance of lighting ever shot separately. Often times people will light a scene and shoot from multiple angles. Here I show you why lighting each angle improves the quality of your video.

Stuff I talk about:

  • Hi, could you direct me to where I can buy a couple of lights to get me started please? There's so much variety on eBay and I don't know where to start and I don't want to end up overspending in the beginning. And about the reflector and cookie, where can I buy the stands? Are they lighting tripods and how do you connect the items to the stands? Pegs? Cheers! Loved the video by the way - never knew about cookies until now. Very effective!

  • @1simonmatthews I recommend Smith Victor photoflood lights just for getting started. Very inexpensive and nice and soft for basic interviews and narratives. Then when you're ready to move up, look at Cool Lights.

  • Just wandering about your color temperature. Since you are shooting tungsten, shouldnt you also change the color temperature coming in from the windows?

  • @gaucho1v You are correct. This episode is just for example. In my previous video I was using daylight balanced lights when shooting against the windows.

  • what camera was being used to record this ?

  • @michael10972 We recorded the episode on our Canon HV20. The camera I used to film the actors was the Canon 5D Mark II.
