SOLID GOLD DANCERS / Season 5 - Episode 39

Original air date 6/29/1985. This episode is most famous for "Darcel's Return". It also marks Rick Dees' departure from Solid Gold, as this week was guest hosted by Natalie Cole and Glen Campbell. This is an edited version of a "complete episode" I have previously posted. This contains just the dancers performances including the top 10 countdown and the closing dance. The #1 song that week was "Things Can Only Get Better" and was performed on stage by Howard Jones.

I also used a "color enhancement" option in my editing software - compare it to the original post and tell me what you think. Is it better?

Please note: where ever the music is muted, WARNER MUSIC GROUP ("WMG") owns/leases the rights to that song and they don't want it played unless they get PAID. Sorry in advance!

What can we do to improve the quality of all the "Solid Gold" videos ??? Help ... I need a fix !!!

I'm trying to improve quality. However, I am not a professional video editor and I am learning as I go along. This video was "enhanced" from it's original condition. Check out "Solid Gold / Season 5 - Episode 39 part 5" and compare them. Tell me if it's worth taking the time to do or not.

Thanks for responding...yes the Season 5 Clip is a good one, but without something to compare it to...I am not sure if your time is well spent editing...but those black disco jeans...priceless. What we really need to do is start a campain to get the show back on the air...with the new Hi Def technology,,,that would be awesome !!! But keep on working to improve ... you have my total support. Where do you get the raw footage?

tcann, this is an edited version of a "full episode" that I have posted before. It's in five parts, but I'll send you two of them so you can look at the dancers footage and compare them to this video to see if the changes are apparent. K?

Dwight, what I have posted of Countdown 86 is all that will be posted from me. One, because complete episodes are a TON of work and less popular than dancer only posts.

Two, I don't have the commercials from that show. I got the footage with commercials edited out already.

Sorry Darcel was stumbling all over the place on the ending. Poor thing.

Anyway perhaps they couldn't afford Darcel and Rick Dees at the same time but thank god for getting rid of Rick Dees, I guess its too bad they couldn't figure that out earlier in the season.

I didn't say that she was stumbling in this episode & yes she did look better w/ her curves. To me in season 6 she would normally stumble during closing credits (not all the time) as opposed to previous episodes. All in all Darcel is still one of my favorite dancers.
