that bear is showing signs of stress when bears get stressed they do that behaviour im a animal care student and im doing an assignment on how to prevent this behaviour a 'huge ball' and 'lots of water to swim in' does not mean the animal is happy polar bears get really stressed in captivity especially zoos where they can be watched and have less space

did you get this from the henerly dorley zoo

Is that Mercedes the Polar Bear? She went mad in captivity, and now they gave her a bigger place so she'll get better hopefully!
-
that's just heartbreaking :(

That makes it a bit better, but it's still not natural behaviuor that it's displaying.

He's doing it because he's going mad. Result of being poorly kept in captivity without any enrichment or socialisation.

There are other bears. They were just sleeping in their cave. Plus the bears have a huge ball to play with and lots of water to swim in.
