Grainface - Super.draft

Recording of the Grainface performance on january 2009 in the ZKM Kubus (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie) Karlsruhe. Grainface is the laptop ensemble of the Institute for musicology and musicinformatics (Musikwissenschaft und Musikinformatik) of the University of Music Karlsruhe ( http://www.hfm.eu )

Audio is done with SuperCollider, Visuals with Processing.

Sadly the sound is the sound from the camera, not an extra recording.

Bravo! Enjoy the visuals and music a lot. Just a question, though, wondering as a supercollider user who wants to start integrating visuals, did you have supercollider running on the same machine as processing, or was there a dedicated laptop? i am very curious as to what the cpu limitations are in a situation like this, as cool looking visual stuff seems like it would consume a lot of cpu. Please let me know, I am very curious as to your process. Thank you!

@zlapidus hey, it was a seperate laptop (i think it was a Core 2 Duo, about 2Ghz MacBook Pro) running processing. The effects are all realised in GLSL, which runs directly on the graphics card and very fast, so cpu isn't that much a problem. Write me a message if you want more details!

Visuals are really nice, kind of like Alva Noto stuff, i like the gesture at 5.01 its kind of like a cars horn gone crazy and its interesting how it moves into the dark industrial sounding section. Was there a specific theme to the performance? p.s. the camera must be pretty good to pick up the sounds/ bass.
