Dramane Kone, Djelia Kadi DVD Preview

Clip from the upcoming performance DVD by Dramane Kone. This was filmed in High Definition in the MiroLab, Long Beach, CA. Everything recorded in these sessions were from Dramane delivered on the spot and performed without rehearsal by Andrew and I. We did our best to keep up with Dramane ;)

Dramane is an extremely gifted performer and is one of my favorite musicians from Burkina Faso, West Africa! Dramane's Performance group is called "Djelia Kadi" meaning "It's good to be Griot".

The rhythm here is called Siwaya. In this video, David Hilal is on dununs and Andrew Acquista is on djembe.

Look brother I understand your respect for your teacher but calling him the best in the world...there are so many talented young Africans that dont get any recognition because they dont have youtube exposure or a dvd out. I think for us the students is really important to pay tribute to the REAL masters and try and keep this beautiful tradition alive! Thanks for uploading your video, I really enjoyed it!
