An eight part tutorial that explains the step-by-step process of how to Export a weapon from 3ds Max, Import the weapon into the UDK engine, and then Implement the weapon into the Unreal 3 game. This research project/tutorial was created by: James Beegle, Jared Merback, and Benjamin Pope. Enjoy!

  • I spent the Last 3 days Trying to make a weapon, and when i finshed it I found this Totorial lol :). That gun you made looks so cool, how long did it take you to make.

  • It took about 70 hours to model, unwrap, and texture.

  • Hey when i try to import the skeletal mesh into udk, the model is inverted. But when imported as an ASCII it looks fine.

Does anyone have solution to this? Cheers lol

  • @Lio2102 Actually if you take the model from the game into 3ds Max just follow this tutorial.

  • @RazorX313X They do not use the same engine, therefore it is impossible.

  • can any1 tell me from whre can i downlaod the UE3 and NOT the free UDK ?

  • How do I get models from other games such as CS:S to UDK?

  • wow, that is really loud button hammering.. 0.o

  • @248patxi read the comment he posted... it took him 70 hours to fully model it... he isn't going to just give it away for free...

  • @Awsomeaustin - you can find custom weapons for UT3 but not UDK in general. With UDK you need to create your own artwork.

Also, its odd that xexiem says to align the model to the Y axis, because it should be aligned to the X axis.

  • Amazing tutorial for noob like me in 3ds xD Thank you
