Shakespeare seems to have a thing for the smell of fish: In Romeo and Juliet, Mercutio, thinking that Romeo has spent the night with Rosaline, says, "Like a dried herring without his roe. Flesh, flesh, how art thou fishified!" In Zeffirelli's film, Mercutio pretends to gag at Romeo's fishy stench when saying the line. Gotta love the Bard!
