A potentially severe thunderstorm approaches the city of Evansville, Indiana, from the west shortly before midnight on the evening of January 22, 2012. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued for Vanderburgh County, so the city's storm sirens provide an ominous soundtrack before the squall line's arrival.

Thankfully, the storm did not produce any major damage in Evansville, although it did produce very heavy rain and some 45-55 MPH winds that sporadically downed power lines.

This video was shot from the city's north side, looking west-northwest from about a mile south of the airport. The nearest siren is a Sentry 15V1T.

  • was it a tornado warning or do they set of the sirens for thunder storms

  • @iceman997799: It was just a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, as explained in the title and description. Vanderburgh County does indeed set off the sirens for both Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings.
