  • I think the message of self forgiveness and perseverance runs true even with this story of suffering and death. Throughout the whole story of Kenshin, his inability to forgive himself and to gain atonement was his drive to protect others, but despite how much he has accomplished he was never able to forgive himself. The final scenes of this OVA gracefully illustrate how he has come to terms with his his life albeit only at his final moments. The cross scar was more than just a physical mark.

  • @Kaasen does kenji not know his father was a master of the style he wants to learn?

the hiten mitsurugi ryu? he says he wants to learn it to be better than his dad? why does his dead suffer so much...he dies with his son disliking him

  • wait wait wait...does kenji [ kenshin's son] grow up to hate his father?

in the beginning he said somin about facing him

  • This is so confusing @.@ since I'm reading the manga too...

  • THIS WAS SHIT THE MESSAGE IS THAT ULTIMATELY ONE CAN FIND REDEMPTION FOR THEIR DEEDS BUT WHAT DOES KENSHIN GET HMMM AFTER ALL THE SHIT HE GOES THROUGH HE ENDS UP SUFFERING THIS MUCH ITS PATHETIC

  • But wait just a sec, the original manga finishes at when Kenshin is around.. 30 something? I guess? because kenji is a baby at the time. This OVA is set when Kenji turns 15 and Kenshin turns 42 or something.. so isnt this like a continuation of Watsuki's rurouni kenshin? not a spin off?

  • i thought the original creator (Watsuki) of this anime disapproved this because of its sad ending. for me the original one is far more better than this one.

  • this is my cartoon

  • @Kaasen I agree. The first time I stumbled upon these here on Youtube and watched them I thought the same thing. It's beautiful and well made, but it's depressing to the point of being too different from the hopeful positive tone of the series. Not to say that it isn't like real life-- all life ends in sickness, pain and suffering, be it sooner or later. The part that bugs me the most is Kaoru's illness. There is no way that Kenshin would ever risk her wellbeing.

  • thanks for posting this OVA! ^^ i missed kenshin! i still have my collections of all the characters! thank! ^^
