Dana Loesch of the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition appeared with Greta Van Susteren to discuss the BUYcott at the Whole Foods Store in Town & Country, Missouri. John Mackey, founder and CEO of Austin-based Whole Foods, wrote an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal last month opposing a government health-care option. His column prompted a backlash among unions and liberal shoppers. A BUYcott is the opposite of a boycott. St. Louisans came to the store 9-1-09 to support Whole Foods by buying their products.
@Starkiller9538 Anyone with a journalistic license can access these statistics from the Department Of Health and Human Services and cross-referenced with statistical data on party affiliation from city hall and the state capital. But you can also just apply simple logic. The majority of adult medicare recipients are elderly whites. 83% of elderly whites vote Republican, do the math. Nevermind, I already did.

@funkbrother216 Can you actually back that up or are you pulling "facts" from your butt?

@theadmiralburns The majority of Medicare recepients vote Republican.

What about his pledge to end the war in Iraq? Did you believe that too?
I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone, who has any historical knowledge of the last century, would have any faith in big government and the politicians who tout it's merits.

So wouldn't you agree that the first question would be, "WHY IS HEALTH CARE SO EXPENSIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE?" Answer: nearly 50 cents of every health care dollar spend in the US is a "government" dollar, and since they have been increasingly involved (especially with medicare) costs have increased exponentially. Yet, most idiots still see the government as the solution.

Besides, in his speech last night, Obama made it clear his proposal won't raise taxes in any significant way and will be funded through streamlining the current system. You might say, "YOU LIE!" but Obama's public pledge means more to me than some random obstructionist saying it's impossible just because they don't like the premise behind it.

To me, individuals are empowered when they can have an injury or illness treated at a hospital without fear of going thousands of dollars into debt. That's just me though.
Taxes not taken in equals money lost.
Lastly, $2,300 per individuals or $5,700 per family is hardly adequate with rising insurance costs.
Why not get a better bang for that buck with a public system, which would be far cheaper than what the profit-minded insurance companies have to offer.

The republican plan is superior to the democrat plan in every way. First it would empower individuals and families, rather than government. How can you possibly be against that? Then you use fuzzy math to imply that tax credits cost the government as much as outright spending. Not at all. By leaving money with the people who earn it (and have a moral right to it, unlike the government), households are more confident about their budgets and the economy and more willing to spend.

Here is the Republican plan:
"Called the Patients' Choice Act, it would eliminate the tax break that employers receive for providing health-insurance benefits to their workers. Instead, it would give an annual tax credit of $2,300 to each individual and $5,700 to each family that they could use to offset the cost of their health insurance."
$2,300 x 300 million Americans = $690 billion a year
How is this cheaper than $1 trillion over 10 years?! I thought Republicans were good at math!

Obamacare steals from the productive and successful to fund a corrupt vote-buying scheme which pockets much of what it steals and returns a mere fraction of what it has stolen to those they claim they supposedly help. Obama challenged people to come up with a better plan. When Republicans come up with a better plan, Pelosi refuses to consider it and Obama lies and denies any plan exists. And when Mackey offers a better plan, union thugs seek to punish Mackey for using his firs amendment rights
