This video's song is performed by Shiny Toy Guns.

Original song was created by Irving Berlin in 1929 and introduced by Harry Richman.
Following versions included but not limited to Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Clark Gable, Fred Astaire, Gene Wilder & Peter Boyle, Taco, Shiny Toy Guns, and Leningrad Cowboys.

This IS Shiny Toy Gun's version, and even though it might SOUND like Taco, it's not. Please, before questiong this, try comparing this version of the song with Taco's. Yes, the singers do sound alike, but that's the point. They're trying to sound like the people who originally sang this song back in the 20's, but there is plenty of differences to show that they are not the same.

There was a small part of this song sung in an episode of Family Guy (not necessarily this video's version)

"Putting on the Ritz" is a slang term for dressing very fashionably or fancy. It was inspired by the famous Ritz Hotel, located since 1906 in Piccadilly, London.

The background of this video was drawn by and belongs to: http://cloudbabykc.deviantart.com/

There's really no reason behind the Warden from Superjail being in the background other than this song reminded me of something he'd listen to and/or sing. It's never been in the show Superjail either. I don't think why he's there even matters anyway, because it's more about the lyrics of the song and not what's behind them.

  • Sorry for correcting but this is "Taco" not "Shiny Toy Guns"

  • @beaverdctor I've heard the version of this song performed by Taco, or at least ones labeled as Taco, and not only does the recording quality sound different but you can tell compared to other Taco songs - his singing style and voice - that the one he did isn't this one.

Regardless, thank you for wanting to help get accurate information, but I've had many people tell me it's Taco when I've checked and I am pretty certain this version is Shiny Toy Guns.

  • These lyrics are different than those in the original film version sung by Harry Richman.

  • @FoxRunMan Shiny Toy Guns and other modern artists I'm sure altered the lyrics to either their liking or to try and modernize the song. like the places and clothes named in the song were changed to be more recent variations.
