Weslaco High School Choir Octet National Anthem Practice

Practicing the national anthem in the band hall you can kinda hear the jazz band. Tenors and Altos on the Left (Brandon Valdez, Ruth Alvarado, Isaac DeLeon, Irma Perez) Bases and Sopranos on the Right (Ciro Alonzo, Alejandra Arambula (me), Daniel Andrade, JoAna Garcia). We are practicing without our director.

you guys have the talent...which is good. However try this:

Try practicing your breathing-don't breathe between each phrase, but at the end of each phrase. (ex. O say can you see (keep going don't breathe here) by the dawns early ligh(T) (breathe)

Take in more air before each phrase, especially at the beginning of the arrangement to open up the air valve giving the lungs more oxygen with the diaphragm. this will raise the Pallet inside the mouth giving a more "AH" sound to your vocal technique.

Thanks [: it was a practice and our director wasn't there at the time so yeah we kinda didin't do the stuff she told us to do XD which is what you said basically. She did really stress on the connection of the phrases and to stagger breathe and what not.
