@StollandSon "Church at the time of Galileo WAS the academic establishment"
That's a matter of definition but with your definition you are of course right. Luckily the current "real" academia have nothing at all in common with the church of those days. The most important difference is that dogma and absolute authority is replaced by the scientific method with things like evidence based research and peer review.
And that is why I think your definition is seriously flawed.
@FredricF And just because I know you'll twist my words as you did with energy when I clearly stated that I mis-spoke, let me dumb this part down for you.
I am not saying mag lev trains run off the earth's magnetic field. But they are propelled using magnetic fields. Again, I'm waiting for you to actually make a good point here, but I feel it's a lost cause. You're right; everything is great and you academics are doing a great job. That's why we're still on fossil fuels - great job.
@FredricF The only straw man argument is your "the big bad church" and the almighty "scientific method" which is selectively enforced. You have yet to debunk anything I have said except to take one word "energy" and say I have zero understanding of physics (aka a moron). I meant "fields". You say that's impossible yet the Japanese are riding on mag lev trains right now. So who is really resorting to poor debate technique here? Your original statement was dismissive and condescending.
I don't get it.
