Two trains with a quick view of the old Amtrak platform in between. This is just west of the York Street crossing in Elmhurst Illinois. Both trains are short freights. The first is pulled by EJ&E # 663, the next is pulled by CN # 9618. The second train also appears on this channel in "Des Plaines River Trestle." #9618 had stopped east of York and that allowed me to catch up and get the video. The Amtrak platform was only used for a short while in the early 1970's. That was for the "Blackhawk" service that went from Chicago to Dubuque. Prior to that, the Illinois Central Railroad had both passenger and freight depots here. The IC ran commuter service from Chicago to Addison. A short siding was also here and was used by a bulk oil plant.
I wish I had a formal schedule in my hands. It would make taking pictures easier. I live a little less than two blocks from the line and my informal observation is that one train per hour chugs those tracks. Of course, the day I wait by the rails, the trains take hours to show up......

The part from the Amtral platform was about a week ago, the shot from the south was just over a month ago.
