Freedom? It's the Last Flight to Freedom... Pine Ridge Reservation South Dakota

The Lakota Nation, photos by Jamie Gemmiti, is the subject of a black and white photography project about the struggles of freedom in the face of adversity. Inspired when Gemmiti heard a news report about how the Native American reservation, Pine Ridge in South Dakota, was among the poorest places in the country. Meanwhile, poet Daniel Bianchino visits Pine Ridge to share the powerful vision he experienced that said to bring his new sacred pipe to the Lakota pipe keeper. Bianchino's inspired poems about those struggles and the beauty of the culture are put to music by Lisa Marie Coppeletta.
