at walmart they sell these survival saws... its like a guitar string almost with two loops on either end.... if you remove one of the loops you can slide a tourniquet hose over it and replace the loop to link the two ends together and hang all the other accessories on........ the saw is always useful and the tourniquet can be used as a sling spear.... the swedish fire starter is nice but they also sell these rubber keychain bic-mini holders... survival doesnt always have to be primitive.

@CanItAlready since my comment 10 years ago I have seen these now. When I started crafting I never saw anything like this. Are you into bushcraft?

I have always liked the concept of the survival necklace, but the main crucial issue for the first 48hrs is water, not food. You can survive several days without food, but without safe water to drink, your finished. I believe a small SERE kit should be orientated to water purfication (tablets), improvised filter (t-shirt minimum), collection (plastic bag) and carry (condom). Add a small knife.

make a necklace out of 20 feet of braided paracord and use that ...its a life saver

the knife doesnt have to be carbon steel cause the fire steel has the steel in it already
